| First some older pictures: The mask on the left was purchased in the 1970's from a company called Fashion Trend in Charlotte, North Carolina. At that time it cost $46.00. It is thin latex with a zipper closing in the back. Unlike other full head masks, the wearer's ears were exposed with this mask. It is comfortable to wear for hours at a time and has held up well considering its age. The center picture shows me wearing the mask and the "masquerade bust" they also sold. You wore it like a vest. It has a zipper in the back and covers your torso from neck to navel. Yes, I still have it! I wonder what became of the original manufacturer? Does anyone know? I'll bet we could sell these today for $46.00! The mask on the right was purchased from Mistress Antoinette's Versatile Fashions. It is one of several designs manufactured by FaSade. This is no longer available from Versatile. You could specify the type of closure, zipper or lace-up, skin color, eye shadow, lips, cheek color, etc. This one has the eyes open (cut out), you can specify closed if you wish. They cost about $129.00 plus shipping. This mask is made of a thicker latex and does not fit skin tight as do the thinner types. It is comfortable to wear and looks pretty good, despite the broken nose! (Sorry about the cheap wig!) |
